Didier Grappe

Saint-Lothain (Jura)

Welcome to the wonderful Jura region and its sumptuous terroirs! It is precisely in Saint-Lothain that Didier Grappe exercises his talent in all discretion.
A very personal vision of his practice, full of common sense, which has made him one of the most visionary and pioneering winemakers in the region, delivering healthy and transcendent wines for over 20 years. Indeed, the juices delight and do not deceive: only a successful, coherent and thoughtful approach can lead to such a level. Pure, sincere and recognized wines, as evidenced by their presence on the wine lists of the finest restaurants in the world!

Didier, whether in the vineyard or in the cellar, is a winegrower who constantly questions his practice, like a curious and relentless researcher, particularly in order to respond and adapt to the consequences of climate change, which is becoming increasingly visible and damaging. To do this, the winegrower draws on ancestral practices and knowledge, under the guise of good farming sense, which go back much further than the intensive agriculture dictated by the petrochemical industry.
For example, it is with the help of ancient pruning techniques that he manages to limit the damage caused by increasingly frequent frosts, or by replanting old, resistant, forgotten or forbidden grape varieties whose robustness allows him to do without treatments that he protects himself from vine diseases. Didier is also an adept and fervent defender of mixed farming and the biodiversity it generates, an essential link in the balance between humans and nature sought by the winegrower, on the scale of the vine and the planet.

In winemaking, Didier practices “zero zero”. Absolutely nothing other than fermented grapes are bottled in order to create “pure juice” cuvées as he likes to call them, and this has been the case for many years now. The terroir expresses itself coherently in these lively, elegant and complex wines at a reasonable price for a region that has had nothing to prove for a long time. A necessary and guaranteed discovery!
