Jean-Philippe Padié

Calce (Roussillon)

From the very first sip of the wine, Jean-Philippe Padié’s talent jumps out at you: it is straight and elegant, the purity of the wines on opening is amazing.

Installed since 2003 in the famous village of Calce (Pyrénées-Orientales), a constellation of sumptuous terroirs in the Roussillon region, Jean-Philippe Padié first made his mark at Mas Amiel and with Gérard Gauby, the tutelary figure of the region’s wines. It is at his side that the winegrower learnt an important part of his know-how and his knowledge of the terroirs of which his wines have been the perfect witnesses for years.

Jean-Philippe happily cultivates 18 hectares of vines according to the main principles of biodynamic viticulture, without entrusting this technique with all the solutions: above all, he shows common sense by seeking above all, and in all humility, a perfect natural balance of the site. His vines are spread over thirty or so micro-terroirs, forming a mosaic that Jean-Philippe understands perfectly and which allows him to compose his wines directly from the vine, by deciding to blend the terroirs whose secrets he alone knows.

When tasted, the freshness and complexity of the juices, through the precise expression of the minerality, create unmistakable natural wines that are a masterpiece to be discovered!
